DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual Chowda Suppa — and share your Rockport history at our first open mic night! \nFor years\, the Sandy Bay Historical Society has presented a series of speakers on Rockport history. This time\, we’re turning the microphone over to you for our first-ever Rockport History Open Mic Night. Share an interesting story about your family history\, a cherished antique\, your old house\, or anything else from our town’s past. Each speaker will be limited to five minutes\, so keep it short. We look forward to hearing your special piece of our community’s past. \nThe suppa is Friday\, Sept. 15\, at 6 p.m. Reservations required. Tickets are $8. Call 978-546-9533 before Sept. 8.

DESCRIPTION:From 1896 to 1943\, Emerson Haskell and his son Frank operated an open-air shore dinner restaurant on the shores of Loblolly Cove. Customers included presidents\, business tycoons\, artists\, movies stars and everyday tourists. Paul St. Germain\, president of the Thacher Island Association and author\, will share stories of this unique and one-of-a-kind business and the people who dined there.
