Indigenous People of Sandy Bay

Mary Ellen Lepionka is an expert in the archaeology and Indigenous history of Cape Ann.  She is a formr college instructor in anthropology.  Mary Ellen’s articles and essays on the Indigenous history of Essex County appear in the Bulletin of the Massachusetts Archaeological Society, the Journal of New England Antiquities Research Association.

She will talk about the archaeology of Sandy Bay with a focus on the Saville Collection and will trace Indigenous history here from the last Ice Age to around 1700.
